What Students Want
Attended a session wherein the presenters had surveyed 1,000 students, 300+ faculty across the nation (private & public schools) re. the definition and requirements of a 21st-century campus. Major findings: The number one student priority is ACCESS-preferably wireless. (So, NMU seems right on target here). Students want to attend universities with cutting-edge technology and most appreciate interactive experiences with real-life professionals via video or internet conferencing. (Connecting the classroom to the work environment). I found it interesting that students in particular reiterated a desire for archived lectures especially when one IT representative shared that their school audits consistently indicate that only 1% of students actually access these digitalized lectures. Expensive security blanket.
