Just attended this session which was very interesting, most applicable for students with test anxiety, but certainly beneficial for all who deal with stressful situations. In a nutshell, The Institute of HeartMath has done some research and developed a system to assist people deal with stress. Basically perception drives emotion. Emotion drives physiological processes which changes the amplitude of heart rhythms. Negative stress causes heart rhythm chaos, cognitive shutdown and thus suboptimal performance.
Positive emotions promotes heart rhythm coherence, mental clarity and more productivity. Being a cardiac nurse, I was skeptical about their demonstration, however definitely agree with the pathophys.
The presentation was only 30 minutes so we didn’t see any of the resources. I look forward to time to visit HeartMath.org and cassel.org

I too attended this session and found I am already addressing this issue but not in such a clinical manner. I often have students do deep breathing excercises or tell a joke prior to an exam, presentation, or other potentially stressful situation. Much more to learn on this topic. HeartMath.org
