Day 3 at MERLOT
The keynote speaker today Dr. Carl Berger provided very interesting insight into ways to recognize and reward use of educational technology and online pedagogy. His ideas are timely given the current AAUP and administrative debate at NMU regarding faculty professional development and scholarship.

I enjoyed Carl's presentation, which hit on a concern that I sometimes hear from faculty members when I talking with them about something such as joining the CTIP cohort or exploring a new technology-enhanced teaching technique. No one disputes that NMU supports use of technology, but sometimes faculty don't believe (or aren't sure) that their department will recognize that work, which is not purely disciplines specific, when it comes time for their reviews.
